1. Trivia - If you said Andrea McArdle was the first Annie - you're mistaken. The first Annie was Kristin Vigard at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut, where it opened for previews on August 10, 1976. But her portrayal was too sweet, and after one week, Ms. Vigard was replaced by Andrea McArdle - a tougher, more boisterous Annie. Andrea McArdle WAS Broadway's first Annie. (Ms. Vigard understudied).
